3 DAY FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE (HSE APPROVED)
DURATION: 3 Days – 0900 -1700 hrs.
DELEGATE GROUP: Nominated workplace first aiders and other delegates requiring an introduction to first aid.
PRE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: No previous first aid training necessary. This is a Health & Safety Executive approved course that complies with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 for the qualification of workplace first aiders.
AIM: To allow delegates to reach a recognised standard (HSE) using current first aid protocols and literature.
OBJECTIVES: Delegates will be given the opportunity to demonstrate competence in all aspects of First Aid at Work through a blend of theoretical and practical training and a formal assessment process.
COURSE CONTENT: Delegates will receive theoretical and practical training in a range of first aid competencies. The list below is by no means exhaustive but outlines the main aspects of the course.
- Aims and principles of First Aid
- Using a first aid kit
- Basic life support
- Management of the unconscious casualty
- Dealing with shock
- Bleeding and wounds (common workplace injuries)
- Fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries
- Dealing with common major and minor illnesses
- Prevention of cross-infection during first aid procedures
- Burns
- Legal aspects of First Aid at Work – record keeping and use of equipment
- Assessment (Certification will be 3 Day First Aid at Work HSE approved)
COURSE FEES: Available on request. Price includes course materials, certification and lunch. Accommodation may be available at the Centre on request. Where suitable facilities are available the above training can be delivered at the client’s location.
