OVERSEAS FIRE OFFICER COMMAND & CONTROL COURSE
DURATION: 6 Weeks fully residential
DELEGATE GROUP: This course is designed for overseas personnel with previous Fire Service experience. It provides instruction in command and control to deal with the management requirements of a rescue and firefighting service (RFFS) in:
- Station administration;
- Operational tactics and techniques;
- Effective deployment of equipment and personnel;
- Event of an aircraft accident/incident.
PRE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Trainees will need to have experience of Airport Fire and Rescue Services at Officer or potential Officer level and be able to communicate easily using the English language.
AIM: To meet the recommendations of Annex 14
OBJECTIVES: At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- State the legislative (ICAO) requirements regarding the RFFS at aerodromes
category 1-10
- Define the actions required when dealing with personnel on management matters.
- Define the tactics, techniques and actions required for dealing with a variety of aircraft situations.
- Define the requirements for implementing breathing apparatus control procedures

- Describe the management of preserving the scene at an aircraft accident.
- Identify the classifications of dangerous goods and their packaging.
- Define the hazards involved with radioactive materials and decontamination procedures required.
- Describe the need for an effective station training programme.
- Discuss the management of emergency planning at an airport
- Demonstrate the planning and design of airfield fire appliances.
- Discuss the problems regarding evacuation of passengers.
- Discuss the application of fire prevention measures for an airfield.
This course will also involve practical elements on the fireground, use of virtual reality simulator and external visits to an airport and manufacturers
