VOCATIONAL ASSESSORS AWARD CAP 699
DURATION: 1 weekfully residential
TRAINEE GROUP: This programme is designed for Rescue and Firefighting personnel within the aviation sector who have been, or identified as, potential assessors for CAP 699 in the workplace. It concentrates on the core competencies required for assessing the maintenance of competence within the workplace. Meeting the criteria of CAP 699 para. Intro 2.21
PRE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
The programme May be offered to any persons having:
- at least one years operational experience in a supervisory role
- and have a sound working knowledge of CAP 699
AIM: The aim of this training is to provide the trainee assessors with necessary skills to assess performance and knowledge within the workplace to meet CAP 699 standards.
All trainee assessors must have sufficient occupational competence.
The structured learning programme delivered by Darlington College of Technology will be formally assessed via a portfolio of evidence generated by assessing units of CAP 699 at IFTC. Successful completion of the programme and further evidence of assessing in the workplace, plus a follow-up contact after 10 weeks to ensure that assessments carried out are meeting quality assurance standards will be certificated by City & Guilds (subject to external verification) and you will achieve an A1 Assessor Award (replacing D32 & 33).
OBJECTIVES: At the end of this programme the trainee assessor will be able to:
- develop realistic plans to assess competency against CAP 699
- judge evidence against CAP 699 and make decisions about skills, performance and knowledge
- record judgements, give feedback to support assessor decisions
- contribute to the internal quality of the assessment process

- planning assessments
- understanding unit specifications of CAP 699
- assessment methods – advantages and disadvantages
- recording and reviewing progress and identifying possible training needs
- monitoring progress to meet quality assurance systems
